Yulex Corporation’s innovative guayule breeding program combines selective breeding and genetic enhancement approaches, leveraging the best of both.
Yulex and its partners are currently focused on methods to increase the amount of latex, rubber and biomass that guayule can produce for economical rubber production.
Yulex scientists and scientists from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) are producing transgenic guayule lines that enhance the plant and lowers cost for users. Through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the USDA-ARS, Yulex can further support the industrial rubber market’s need for a U.S. alternative source of rubber.
Another collaborative partnership currently in place is with the USDA-ARS, Mendel Biotechnology and Yulex Corporation's expert scientists to develop and field test proprietary guayule plants with enhanced natural rubber latex yields and increased biomass ensuring the final product meets Yulex's standards.
