Ethanol production from biomass is currently the only clean, renewable energy source that can help to significantly diversify transportation fuels in the U.S.

Transforming guayule bagasse into cost competitive, high performance biofuels, bioproducts, and biopower is a top priority of the Yulex biorefinery program. Corn as the primary source for ethanol in the U.S. in recent years has been rising in price putting pressure on food prices as well.
Through partnerships to develop and advance guayule gasification and fermentation technologies, Yulex Corporation plans to generate marketable quantities of guayule syngas and ultimately ethanol. For example, through a private-public partnership with the University of Akron, Yulex is collaborating to develop fermentation processes that offer an alternative and competitive route to ethanol.
