Yulex® natural rubber, made from the desert plant guayule, provides medical device manufacturers and specialty consumer product manufacturers with a natural rubber that is naturally free of the allergens associated with Type I latex allergy. The material is Hevea latex-free and does not contain proteins associated with allergic reactions to latex products from Hevea.
The FDA recently gave 510(k) clearance for the Yulex® natural rubber examination glove, the first medical device made from guayule. Other products made from guayule are in development such as balloon catheters, condoms, baby nipples, dental dams and more.
