The company has been granted a patent on the supercritical technology to extract high molecular biopolymers and separation of resins and rubber from the plant and has a growing list of other patents pending.
Some of these patents include the patent for a bioadhesive for use in surgical dressings, and a patent for tracheal tube cuffs.
Current Research & Development
Yulex is developing a safer, ultrathin material for medical tubes that require superior elasticity. The present synthetic material being used in hospitals is not suitable, tropical Hevea latex rubber is not safe for people with latex allergy, and hospitals are seeking this alternative material from Yulex.
Although synthetic alternatives continue to try and emulate the properties of a natural material already achieved by Yulex® natural rubber without the risk of allergic reactions, they have not been comparable in quality to Yulex® natural rubber which has naturally high rubber molecular weight, and unbranched rubber polymers resulting in superior elasticity, durability and tactile sensitivity. Yulex® natural rubber provides the best available form, fit, and feel required for medical devices such as surgical gloves. The surgeon can feel his or her work even in double-gloved applications with much less hand fatigue than is experienced with other materials.
