In addition to supplying advanced materials to our customers, Yulex offers comprehensive technical expertise, including product design, prototyping, testing, evaluation and small volume runs. Yulex is committed to offering our customers a wealth of technical expertise that helps you achieve the best performance from products made of our materials.

Through the study of the composition, microstructure and behavior of our unique guayule materials, Yulex’s team of scientists, engineers and product developers have solved several complex application challenges to enable participation in new markets. Rigorous research backs our foaming, compounding, curing and prototyping processes that produce a wide variety of open and closed cell foams and an array of unique formulations that can last long or degrade slowly to be assimilated with nature and forms that stand up to the most exacting standards and tests.

Custom Compounding

Yulex and its partners can accelerate the development cycle of customers’ products by custom compounding latex or solid biopolymer formulations. Using our entire portfolio of materials, we can improve and modify customer projects to create marketable products. This includes everything from solid natural biopolymer compounding to latex compounding, and from adhesive formulations to the integration of additives to the final formulation to achieve optimal properties. Yulex offers the expertise of its technical staff for fine-tuning your formulations in areas such as the dipping latex process, spray latex application, foam process products, solid biopolymer compounding and color compounding.

Formulating Adhesives

Yulex natural rubber can be easily formulated into a green, biocompatible, solventless adhesive for the critical applications in the medical, consumer and industrial markets.

Our technical team is also adept at developing formulations and products in the co-adhesive market, and also evaluating the performance of these adhesive products against ASTM standards.

Yulex adhesive formulations stand up against other water-based industrial products, such as use as an application for skin contact anti-slip. Also, in some applications Yulex formulation adhesives can be a direct replacement for the adhesives that are currently in products.

Formulating Foam

Yulex’s technical team has vast knowledge and experience in formulating foams in an extensive range of conditions, such as density, hardness, elasticity and microstructure. We have the ability to formulate custom foam solutions – both closed cell foam (CCF) and open cell foam (OCF) – based on our green biorubbers. These foams are suitable for different end uses, ranging from medical applications to action sports and clothing, and even including the expanding market for bedding and matting. Yulex’s technical expertise extends as far as the intimate knowledge of, and processing equipment for, both batch and continuous foaming processes.

Prototyping & Small Batches

One of the most difficult stages of development is the transition from laboratory to industrial production line. Yulex’s technical team is available to support your effort in the development of prototypes and samples for initial visual review and testing against target specifications. Our Innovation center houses advanced processing equipment to support this effort, and our technical team can provide quick results on prototyping and production of small batches of latex formulations and compounds as well as small batches of solid biopolymer.

Prototypes can be developed for products such as medical items (examination gloves, catheters), closed cell foam articles for the sports industry, open cell foam products and solid biopolymer items for heavy industrial applications (tires, gaskets, etc).

Training & Consulting

Yulex’s scientific team offers training and consulting on all aspects of Yulex’s biomaterials, such as the dipping process of latex emulsions, foaming of closed and open-cell materials, adhesive formulations and testing, as well as post-product processing such chlorination.

Training on ASTM methodology, including ELISA and Lowry protein methods as well as technology transfer (after prototype phase development) is also available.
